AN AWARD WINNING ENVIRONMENTAL COMPANY
Environmental Issues
Tamar Nurseries are committed to being as environmentally friendly as possible, with many systems in place to reduce wastage and chemical application as well as re-cycling a large proportion of our production materials in all areas of the company.

We came runners up in Peterborough’s Environmental Business Award in 2000
We are currently investing in a specialized new bed construction within the nursery, allowing us to capture up to 80% of the water run-off. Our aim is have 75% of the nursery to this stage by the year 2006.
All our waste paper, cardboard and plastic is re-cycled via a local waste management company, allowing us to re-cycle up to 90% of our waste products. Chemical applications are kept to a minimum by careful planning and observation, only treating when necessary, helping to keep the plants at their peak condition and free of chemicals prior to their despatch. We also have a dedicated programme of ‘Integrated Pest Management’ in place, making us one of the most forward thinking nurseries in the country.

‘Peat Free’ contract growing is another area we are keen to expand on at Tamar, we have been trialling the medium for 7 years and have perfected our own special mix of bark and ‘Green Waste’. If this area is of interest to you please contact us to find out how we can help you.
